Everyone should listen to Eugene McDaniels’s early 70s albums “Outlaw” and “Headless Heroes of the Apocalypse.” They’re psychedelic soul classics that deserve more wide attention.
“Love Letter to America,” off “Outlaw,” is a fucking gut punch of a song. It’s a love letter what America could have been, and what it chose to be instead.
Personally, I think it’s the perfect song to listen to on the Fourth of July.
